Jennie Emma Scofield, 94, Rhinebeck Resident

RHINEBECK, N.Y. — Rhinebeck resident Jennie Emma Scofield died Monday, May 16. She was 94.

A Walden native, Scofield was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving from 1943-46. 

She was a member of Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. 

She is survived by her son, Donald J. Scofield; daughter, June E. Paulsen; sisters, Ethel Denton, Joan Pidgeon, Evelyn Elderkin, and Nellie Sharkitt; grandchildren, Donald, Jessica, Joseph Scofield and Kimberly Witherwax; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by her brothers, Bertrum and John Dimsey; and sisters, Jean Swartz and Lou Read. 

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Wm. G. Miller & Son F.H. Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie. 

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. 

Burial with military honors will follow in the family plot in Union Cemetery in Hyde Park.
